Privacy Policy

The short version

• No account, no sign-up. You can use Waqfa without ever giving us your name or email.
• Your adhkar, counts, streaks, collections, and settings are stored on your device.
• We show no ads, use no advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs, and never sell your data. The one diagnostics service we use is described below.
• Waqfa is free — there are no purchases or subscriptions.

What we store on your device

The information you create in Waqfa stays in the app’s local storage on your phone or tablet. This includes:

• Your adhkar routine, collections, and tasbeeh counts
• Your streaks and progress history
• Your settings — including your chosen theme, reminders, and prayer-time preferences

We do not receive a copy of this data. If you uninstall the app, it is removed with it. You can export your own data from within the app at any time.

What leaves your device

Crash & performance diagnostics

To find and fix bugs, Waqfa uses Sentry to collect anonymous crash reports and performance diagnostics — for example the type of error, your device model, the app version, and a random installation identifier. It is configured to exclude personal data (no name, email, IP address, or anything you write in the app) and is never used for advertising or to track you across other apps. Your adhkar and counts are never sent to Sentry.

What does not leave your device

Prayer times are calculated on your device from your location — your coordinates are used locally and are not sent to us. Notifications are scheduled locally by your operating system. The Waqfa pause detects which app you’re opening on your device alone — that information is never sent to us.

What we never do

• We don’t serve advertising.
• We don’t embed advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
• We don’t track you across other apps or websites.
• We don’t sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

Permissions we ask for

Each permission is optional and requested only when a feature needs it:

• Location — to calculate accurate prayer times for where you are. You can also set your location manually instead.
• Notifications — to remind you of your adhkar and prayers, if you turn reminders on.
• Screen Time (iOS) — so the Waqfa pause can show a verse before the apps you choose.
• Usage access & display over other apps (Android) — so the Waqfa pause can tell when you open an app you’ve chosen and show a verse over it. This check happens entirely on your device; which apps you open is never sent to us.

Third-party services

Apart from the app stores that distribute it, Waqfa uses one third-party service:

• Sentry — crash and performance diagnostics, with personal data excluded.
• Apple App Store / Google Play — app distribution.

Each of these services has its own privacy practices, which govern how they handle the limited data they receive.

Children’s privacy

Waqfa is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data retention and deletion

Because your data is stored on your device, you are in control of it. Deleting the app removes your data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. Since Waqfa keeps your data on your own device and requires no account, you can exercise most of these rights directly within the app. For anything else, contact us using the details below.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we’ll update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes may also be highlighted in the app.
